Shaping the Future of Real Estate Technology
Recognizing a need for technology within the real estate industry, Grier Allen and
Cooper Bane created BoomTown in 2006. BoomTown first launched as a lead generation
tool but has since become an end-to-end marketing solution for the real estate industry.
BoomTown has recently been ranked the 18th fastest growing software company
by Inc.com.
Prior to founding BoomTown, Grier worked closely with real estate companies witnessing
firsthand the lack of technology in the industry. Most listings were only advertised
in newspaper ads and real estate agencies were forced to hire one company to build
their website and a different company to manage their advertising campaigns. In
2006, with true entrepreneurial spirit, Grier partnered with Cooper Bane to create
BoomTown, a turn key real estate technology platform.
Over the past 5 years, real estate consumer behaviors have changed. For an industry
that barely had an online presence, now 90% of home-buyers are online! Because of
this, BoomTown websites are designed with the client in mind. Leads can easily access
property details and photos at lightening speed. One aspect of the home-buying process
hasn’t changed - real estate is still a relationship-based business. BoomTown provides
Agents with simple but powerful tools that help convert prospects into clients.
BoomTown is based in Charleston, SC. This forward-thinking team lives by the “work

Grier Allen
Grier Allen is the President and Co-founder of BoomTown, the 18th fastest growing software company
in the nation. Grier has over ten years of experience in both the real estate and
software industries. In 2002, Grier graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s
degree in Computer Science and began working as an in-house Marketing & Technology
consultant for Prudential Carolina Real Estate, now known as Carolina One Real Estate.
It was there that Grier first recognized a huge need for technology advancement
in the real estate industry. At this time, listings were not advertised online and
“online lead generation” was an unfamiliar term to most people.
In 2004 Grier co-founded Slant Media, a company that develops intuitive websites,
web applications and web marketing campaigns for clients from various industries.
During his years at Slant, he gained a clear understanding of what it takes to make
the web really work for a business and decided it was time to apply this knowledge
to the industry he knew best.
Grier had an interest in entrepreneurship early on. He wanted to create a product
that would be of value and that would help other companies grow their businesses.
He wanted to be able to take ownership of his work, to have his work be an actual
contribution and to create a company culture that he’d enjoy working in. Those were
the driving forces that sparked the birth of BoomTown and they are the backbone
of what the company is today. In 2006 Grier partnered with Cooper Bane and founded
BoomTown, a real estate web marketing company based in Charleston, SC. Today he
serves as President & CEO, leading a team of innovative individuals who are shaping
the future of Real Estate Technology.
Cooper Bane
Cooper Bane is the Co-founder and Vice President of BoomTown where he has a self
proclaimed passion for product. After graduating from Wake Forest with a degree
in Art, Cooper heard about these things called “websites” where he could display
his artwork. Always interested in honing new skills, Cooper took on the challenge
of creating his own site. This lead to his love for good design.
In 2006, Cooper paired with Grier at Syndeo Interactive for contracted software
development work in the Real Estate Industry. Frustrated with a lack of product
ownership, Cooper took on the title of entrepreneur. He co-founded Boomtown, a product
that would not only be innovative but also game changing to the real estate market.
Since BoomTown’s inception, Cooper has stayed true to its vision of driving the
future of real estate technology. He constantly envisions “what’s next” and strives
to give clients more than they could expect or imagine through well designed product.
